Hello all -

I have a Fujitsu LifeBook 270Dx laptop, running RedHat 6.0 with the
standard out-of-the-box kernel. I am trying to get the internal modem to
work, without any luck. I had once been told that this problem may be due
to the configuration in the /etc/pcmcia/config.opts file - that it was
using the IRQ that the modem wanted to use. So I unwillingly booted up
into Windows98 and checked what it thought the settings for my modem were:
COM2, IRQ 9, I/O range: F0C8-F0CF & F400-F4FF. So I used the exclude
command in the /etc/pcmcia/config.opts to prevent PCMCIA from using IRQ9,
and the I/O range of F0C8-F0CF & F400-F4FF and it looked like this:

#
# Local PCMCIA Configuration File
#
# First built-in serial port
exclude irq 4
# Second built-in serial port
exclude irq 3
# First built-in parallel port
exclude irq 7
# ...existing commands...

# The following are my new commands...
exclude irq 9
exclude memory F0C8-F0CF
exclude memory F400-F4FF

# ...existing commands...
#
# End Of File

Apparently every time the card manager starts up (at boot time I believe),
this file is read. Well, it didn't make any change to my modem problems.
So I am not even sure if I am taking the correct approach to this issue.
Do anyone have any good ideas for me??

Thanks,
  Trevor Larson
