Please have a look in the back of your manual: it should tell you which sound
chip the Satellite uses. If not, www.toshiba.com will have the tech specs.
I _think_ it's the AD1848. If so, you can use Window Sound System drivers,
which should be part of your kernel. Run 'make xconfig' to find out.

Compile sound support, OSS support and all the modules as .. umm.. modular? :)
Then run sndconfig. Before doing that, make sure you know all the chip
settings: boot with your special laptop disk & run TSETUP (?), then note then
down. Make sure they use interrupts which sndconfig can actually reach (I use 
insmod ad1848 io=0x530 irq=10 dma=1 dma2=1).
