Hm..Now I really get confused. I have a IBM 390E model 2626 and with
some gussing I managed to make the card working using 2.2.12 (actually
2.2.11 + Alan's patch-2.2.12-final). The problem is that there seem to
be some problems w/ the volume control. It's too low, even w/ the
volume on the coresp. lines is turned at max (which also requires
turning off the mic to avoid a nice feedback effect). In
/usr/src/linux/Documentation/sound/ESS it is said that:

| Every chip that's detected as a later-than-es1688 chip has a 6 bits
| logarithmic master volume control.

but i don't have any idea if this applies or how to fix it. Any ideas ?
Anybody knows what's the status of the ALSA driver ?

Cheers,

Florian
