So, as far as I can see, the ALSA driver is now fully functional (haven't tried the microphone yet; heck, I don't even know where it is :-). To all the ALSA guys: fantastic work! Thanks a million :-) > But, this talk of NeoMagic 256AV confuses me - my machine has one of those, > but it is only Video. The audio is ESS Solo-1! This is true of all 390Es; it's the 390 that has a NeoMagic sound card, I believe. BTW, Craig was too modest to mention it I think, but there's a great new Linux/390E web page at: http://loke.as.arizona.edu/~ckulesa/tp390e/ which has a nice summary of the 390E/Linux/sound situation. -- --- [EMAIL PROTECTED] --- musician and hacker --- http://www.new.ox.ac.uk/~adam/ echo '$_=bless[q]]],q;_;;sub s;{local$_=shift;push@$_,++$0,pop(@$_).$s;;$_}($, =eval((join"\$_->[",qw)Just Another Perl Hacker)).q)$_->[1]]]])))=~s~((?<=.(?{ ++$*})))?_::~$*&&$"~egx,print""=>""'|perl -ln0e';s;s\;;_::AUTOLOAD$1;g;eval'##
