Thanks all for your help. Believing you were right about the "ancient"
fdisk I was using, I went to ftp.yggdrasil.com/mirrors . . . and downloaded
a new bare.i and color.gz I hoped would be later than the ones I had that were
in my Slackware 3.4. (kernel 2.0.30) (:{. I now have an obviously later verson
of fdisk which found my Linux formatted 1.4Gb partition just fine.
A 27Gb HD! Wow.
