My 10 GB Toshiba hard disc crashed recently (for the second time!). I
had Win 98, NT and Linux installed on it. Linux was booted by the NT
bootloader which worked fine.

Now, till I get my replacement hard disc, I have installed my older 2
GB Toshiba into the notebook. I put only Linux on it because there's no
place for Win on 2 GB! ;-)

Ok, everything went fine, I installed my backup without any problems.
But now, I have a major problem with LILO: I don't get my notebook to
boot into Linux. I have to use a boot floppy every time. That's mostly
annoying!

When the notebook wants to boot from the hard disc, I get:

Insert Boot-Disk and press any key

Hmm.

I've put together a few pieces of information that I thought would be
useful in order to investigate my problem:

So it looks like LILO /is/ installed in the MBR. Why then the "Insert
Boot-Disk and press any key" message?

BTW: I don't have any options in the BIOS concerning the hard disc. So
I can't switch on/off special modes for the hard disc. (Just in case you
suggest something like this!)

If somebody could give me any kind of advice what might be wrong and
how I can get LILO to boot from my hard disc, I'd be very happy! :-)

Thanks in advance!

Greetings,

Stefan.
