Does it see a card in the slot or nothing at all (i.e. "cardctl status ->
socket 1: no card, socket 2: no card)? Have you tried giving a "cardctl reset"
instead of removing and reinserting? By rebooting, do you mean Start->Restart
or are you booting straight into Linux with winlinux or something simillar?

It sounds more like there might be some PNP registers on the card that get
twiddled by Windows into a state that the card no longer responds to basic ID
calls. With my Linksys 10/100 + 56K Lanmodem, during a system reboot (i.e.
<ctrl>+<alt>+<del>) the slots are turned off hard-resetting any cards there.
