Just a short note that I was quite successful in getting a Dell Latitude LS
working including the integrated 3com network card which is id'ed as a 3com
905c card. I did a network install using the latest driver disks and then
apt-get. The video card in these laptops is the Neomagic with 2mb of video
memory. The system comes with a PIII 400 coppermine, 128mb of memory, and a
12 gig hard disk drive.

The Dell Latitude Ls is Dell's lightweight portable. It comes in at about
3 lbs but has a really nice keyboard. I am unsure about the sound card
since I normally do not use sound.

If you are in the market for a lightweight system, I had debian potato
installed in about 45 minutes. Xwindows works after a few failed tries. I
get 16bpp at 800x600. I could get 1024x768 at 8 also. This system was also
previewed at Dell's booth at the New York Linux World show.
