On 2.4 (tested on -pre6, -test1, and -ac22-class), loading both the PCMCIA i82365 module (pcmcia-cs-3.1.16) and a YMF-744B sound driver (either ALSA's 0.5.8b or the one from -ac22-class) at the same time results in a nice kernel lock-up (an RH-6.2-based Vaio Z505HS). Loading them in either order will lock the machine (also tested in single user mode), although there were rare conditions when it worked. Any advice on what I should instrument? When using only either sound or pcmcia, everything is fine. BTW: In 2.2.14, the same drivers (i82365 3.1.16 and ALSA 0.5.8b) coexist neatly. -Marcel
