He was a Visiting Researcher at AT&T Bell Labs, a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Media Lab. of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, a Senior Member of Research Staff at the Cambridge Research Laboratory of Compaq Computer Corp., and a Principal Solutions Architect at Genimedia SA. He has been involved in the standardization of digital video and imaging technologies, representing Compaq on the MPEG committee and Genimedia on the JPEG committee. He is currently the Chair of the JPEG2000 over wireless (JPWL) work item. He has authored more than 40 research papers and 10 patents in the field of media technologies. He received his M.Sc. in physics and Ph.D. in electrical engineering from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (EPFL), Lausanne. Monsieur Jacques Gamboni, pr�sident et fondateur de Fibre Lac SA, op�rateur suisse de t�l�communication, est actif dans les t�l�communications d'entreprise depuis plus de 28 ans. Il en a suivi toute l'�volution des PABX � relais � la TV sur IP. A la t�te du bureau d'ing�nieurs en t�l�communications Intelcom SA, il a dirig� la construction de nombreux r�seaux de t�l�communication de toutes tailles avant de se lancer dans la promotion et la r�alisation d'un r�seau backbone � fibres optiques � travers la Suisse. Fibre Lac qui poss�de aujourd'hui un r�seau couvrant les principales villes de Suisse est convaincue que la TV sur IP va r�volutionner la communication par l?image et que t�t ou tard elle s'imposera d'elle-m�me tant l'appel � la convergence des r�seaux est fort. Stelio Tzonis and Ariel Fischer are the founders of digital-strategy, a consulting company in corporate strategy, focused in digital markets. At the very early stages of Digital TV, back in 1993, Stelio Tzonis co-founded Lysis SA - acquired in May 2001 by the Kudelski Group -, which provides content management systems to Digital TV value chain players, from content owners to service operators. As CTO, and later chairman of the board, Stelio represented Lysis in various DTV and Internet forums including DVB and IETF. Ariel joint Lysis in 1998, where from engineering to marketing and pre-sales, he specialized in the identification and definition of DTV products for new markets, in particular for IP broadband operators. Previous to Lysis, Ariel completed his Master thesis at AT&T Labs Research, working on MPEG-4 Visual Text-to-Speech, and holds a M.Sc. in Communication Systems from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (EPFL) and the Eur�com Institute (Sophia-Antipolis, France).
