If you go with software RAID and need a reliable multi-port SATA card
make sure you research the Linux driver support for it first. The 1st
cheap card I tried would throw bus errors when heavily loaded. I ended
up getting one from http://www.satacards.com after making sure the Linux
driver for the chipset had good support.
