I'm a desktop only home linux user who's run into a major snag. My motherboard
has a serious, if not fatal, problem and rather than spend to have it further
diagnosed and likely replaced, I put my money toward replacing the whole
system. As in the past Craigslist generously came through. Now I have a P-4
system running XP off a 250g harddrive in place of my old P-4 dual-booting
Fedora 13 and XP using two 80g drives. The challenge now is to recove my data
from the old drives, complicated by the fact that the system crash occurred
while I was in the middle of upgrading. Fedora 13 is fully installed but the
files I want will be found in both the linux and XP partitions at this point.
I'm comfortable doing basic swapping of components and working with the BIOS,
etc. but otherwise I'm in unfamiliar territory. As a shot in the dark last
night after picking up the "new" computer I put the old drives in and tried to
boot. The drive with the boot partition wasn't recognized though the system
attempted to load Fedora and failed

Any direction, an online primer, etc., of how to get back to normal with this
would be appreciated.
