The "vacation" autoresponder suite came with rhel3
and 4, but it's omitted from 5. My el5 box uses
sendmail-8.13.8-8.el5, which is what yum gives you,
and I don't want to switch to another mailhandler.
I grabbed the binary for vacation 1.2.7 from an
rhel4 box and it runs with no apparent error on el5,
initializing .vacation.db apparently just fine.

However, the autoresponse itself fails.
/var/log/maillog shows:

I don't know what most of that is telling me. What's
"stat failed"? What's DSN?

I also compiled and installed vacation 1.2.7 from its
tarball, and the behavior is unchanged. Can any kind
of autoresponder be made to work with sendmail
out-of-the-box on rhel5?

Being, of course, out of town, I'll be away from this
list for a few days.

Billy
