This is an old (2006?) vintage access point with limited CPU horsepower. I'm not sure that any further investigations would change the result. I suspect that the hardware is not capable of USB2 speeds although it claims it can and thus the problem. It is rock solid with USB 1.1 devices and barfs at USB 2.0 speeds. -- Pain is temporary.
