Thanks guys! "gcc -v" shows:

Reading specs from /usr/lib/gcc-lib/i386-redhat-linux/egcs-2.91.66/specs
gcc version egcs-2.91.66 19990314/Linux (egcs-1.1.2 release)

So I think it will work?

It works, but can someone please tell me how to get back the normal regular
mouse pointers.

Thanks.

 I have a 18 GB hard-disk. The first partition is 12GB, with Win'98 inside.
Then I have 3 partitions: 2 Linux Native, mounting root and /home and the
third is a swap partition. I'm trying to install LILO on MBR to make a dual
boot, but LILO isn't able to write itself in MBR. When re-booting the LILO
ends on "LI" letters. I think the problem is an hard-disk geometry error,
cause I'm trying to mount root partition over the 1024 cylinder. Is there a
way to solve the problem without erasing Win'98 partition? (If it would
exist a version of LILO being able to solve this problem I would
appreciate....). My current version of LILO is v.21.

Hi out there,

I have a problem with a CD-writer by Sony (CRX-140E)
I was issueing following command to start a multisession CD.
The aim was to burn a session at once (The sony writer is able to do
that) to get rid of the 2 second gaps and then add a data track after
the audio track (CD+).
Unfortunately 'crecord' stops writing after 3MBs... .
Does anyone know what I'm doing wrong ?

       Thanks in advance,

IIRC, the number refers to the number of times you've built that

A percentage of each filesystem is reserved for use by root, so it will
show up as 100% full when the only space left is <= that value.

ciao, probabilmente con l'ultima versione di lilo la 21.5 puoi risolvere il
problema, supporta hd fino a 2Tb.
prima di installare la nuova versione dovrai disinstallare la vecchia (lilo -u

Oh, just one thing if you're going to do that
(mine is in ip-up.local , but it's the same idea)

Squid 2.2 (or whatever ships with Redhat 6.1) has a bit of a wierd
initscript, in that it doesn't check if a copy is already running.

If you've started a copy from the command line already, you'll get
"port in use" errors whie dialling up, and pppd hangs.

It's easily fixed by adding a line to the 'start' case
that checks for a lockfile, and exits if it finds one.

(I just pasted and tweaked the code from /etc/rc.d/init.d/httpd )

Close but no cigar. You'll have to build pppd with MSCHAP support. There
is a readme file for MSCHAP included. Just follow the directions and
everything
should work. I have a working RAS connection since several years back.

If you want to have callback from RAS, it can also be fixed. There is a CBCP

readme as well that describes what you have to do.

Try it out for yourself. If you can't make it work, get back to me and
I will send
you a working wrapper script and config file.

This is more than likely a problem with the X-server. Edit
/etc/X11/XF86Config and look for a line that says:
# Option "sw_cursor"
Then remove the # from that line, save the file, and restart X.

Okay, this is a little weird. Since I've installed SSH on my system, I
have no reason to use telnet anymore. Therefore commented out the line
that enables telnet in /etc/inetd.conf, and sent inetd the SIGHUP to
refresh it's config.

$ ftp
ftp> open localhost
Connected to localhost.

And here, it hangs. Once I re-enable telnet, it works fine.

What's going on here? Can I turn off telnet and keep ftp working?

Well when I did this and restarted the system it had this effect:
The timestamps on the actual files were the correct, current local
time. However, now when I checked the date and the times actually
logged to the log files, they were actually 4 hours behind. I don't

There are at least two ways you can do this.

First, you could add an entry in /etc/aliases. There should already be
aliases in there for accounts such as nobody and deamon that shouldn't
receive email. Basically, add a line line like:

[EMAIL PROTECTED]: [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Where [EMAIL PROTECTED] is the email address you wish to forward and
[EMAIL PROTECTED] is the email address to which the email should be
forwarded.

Secondly, you could create a file called .forward (note the period at the
beginning of the file name) in the home directory of the user who ownes
the account. In this file, put email addresses to which you want the user's
email to be forwarded.

I know that my book on Linux mentioned inetd has to be up for either one
to work. In your case, it's probably just a matter of configuring or
blocking telnet using, I think, /etc/hosts.something-or-other

I suggest you post this question to comp.text.tex. (Although I am a
(La)TeX user I'm afraid that I don't know the answer to that question.)

I'm using the Dutch internetprovider XS4ALL. It costs 15 Dutch guilders a month
( about 6 - 7 US Dollar). You'll get a subdomain in the form of
yourname.xs4all.nl. They can feed you with about 40000 newsgroups which will be
batched every 4 hour and GZIPped (or COMPRESS). Info? write to [EMAIL PROTECTED]
