Framebuffer and no X is a problem - your console is usually not 80x25
which is what many DOS apps expect.

I don't think you want to go through the trouble to get suid-root
console working to get DOSEMU to switch to the normal vga text mode.

Try

stty cols 80 rows 25

before starting dosemu.

Maybe stty cols 80 rows 43 works too. It's usually a number of columns
different from 80 that is not liked by DOS applications.
