Well, this actually depends on the application. If it doesn't specify the port number when opens a socket, then the port will be assined to it dynamically. Then the proper dosemu session will be identified by the port numbers used by its sockets. However, as some programs wants a specific port number to operate, they will not work simultaneously, so the dosnet is a more generic solution.
