Could you mail me (privately) your config.log? I guess the configure script must have had some problems locating your slang includes and directory. Years ago there existed an EMUsuccess.txt. Then in fact it became more efficient to get an EMUfailure.txt because more applications don't work than do work (the ones that don't mostly because of fundamental problems). Now EMUfailure.txt hasn't been updated in a long time either; if you're willing to do that you're very welcome to.
