An interesting related insight: Trade Wars will refuse to run multi-player with anything BUT FreeDos (on a redirected file system). It has to do with the file locking issues in mfs.c, or at least it seems so. There is a patch floating around that deals with this problem for just about every other game of this nature, but TW is doing something slightly different and I haven't quite figured out the details.
