In that case you'd probably need to bring this issue up with the smbfs
maintainers.

DOSEMU uses normal linux commands (fcntl) to find out about file locking.
So if smbfs via the Linux virtual filesystem tells DOSEMU that the file is
locked then there is nothing that DOSEMU can do about it.

Running DOSEMU on the samba server may or not solve this issue though
(using the right samba settings). Also in this case the samba people are
much more knowledgeable than I am.

I'd guess that the best way is to just run all DOSEMU sessions on the same
machine, using the local filesystem, where the Win clients can use telnet,
putty, or Cygwin XFree86. Even the local filesystem isn't always foolproof
(as Michal Samek said) but in that case we are at least sure that it's
DOSEMU's or the Linux kernel's fault and not some network filesystem's
fault.
