I was using sudo and therfore I assumed that the ~/.dosemurc
for the unpriviledged user was read and in that file all those
settings were uncommented. Indeed it seems that dosemu does
read some settings from that file but not others? I am a little
confused.

Anyway, I did comment them out in /etc/dosemu.conf as you
suggested and it solved things. Thanks.
