I'm not sure what you mean here. In 1.1.5.7 (but not 1.1.5.5 &
1.1.5.6) path_to_ufs takes a special lowercase parameter which is however
always 0 if PreserveEnvVar=1.
Can you give an example where things go wrong?
lredir f: linux\fs\${home}
and
lredir f: linux\fs\${HOME}
still work for me.
