That's strange: if I put
$_printer = "lp1,lp2,lp3"
in ~/.dosemurc
I get

CONF(LPT0) f: (null)   c: lpr  o: -Plp1  t: 20  port: 0
CONF(LPT1) f: (null)   c: lpr  o: -Plp2  t: 20  port: 0
CONF(LPT2) f: (null)   c: lpr  o: -Plp3  t: 20  port: 0
CONF(LPT3) f: (null)   c: lpr  o: ''  t: 20  port: 0

The last entry is indeed a strange animal but should not hurt -- important
difference with you is that I get the other printers listed (in dosemu
1.2.1)
