I use 'scrot' for full screen captures and 'xwd' for a dump of a single X window. 'import' (from ImageMagick) may also be useful. The key binding would have to be done through your window manager.
I have a problem. I have made the binds in Openbox's configuration files but they stop working if I go fullscreen. They work fine otherwise, though.
