Did you put a $_printer_timeout = (1) in your $HOME/.dosemurc? Otherwise it is a problem of your printer spooler. With CUPS I have a little pause with printing the first time in the morning after starting CUPS and DOSemu. After that it always prints immediatly the whole day long (if there is enough paper ;-)). Could it be that you configured your printer spooler starting with inetd. Then it will take a pause every time you start printing.
