thank you for the help.
After installation of automake and then directly make: it works !
But like I did before, at first ./configure and then make: it does not work 
and brings only the reported error mesage.
Anyway: in the time between I have discovered that I have a wrong kernel 
(2.6.4) and dpmi programs do not work. And under root account nothing goes.
I see, I have to upgrade :(
