It does indeed sound that way to me. Frankly, when I finally got DOSEMU compiled on this machine I expected to see some drag comparerd the i386 performance in this particular application. I didn't expect to see a 13x slowdown. Again, I can see the reason behind it (even more clearly now that I've read your little write-up) so it looks like this patch will be a huge advantage for a lot more stuff than just DOSEMU. I've learned a lot from reading this and I'm truly glad that I started this thread and asked these questions.
