And in response to my own message... :)

Well, the first part of the problem, the highly corrupted palette values,
looked like a result of the VESA pm interface... when I disabled that the
palette became a little more sane.  However, it still wasn't perfect.  It
appears that Genecyst was sending a palette in the order of:  BGR_.  I've
tested this code with a couple other programs which make use of VESA video
modes, and it doesn't seem to affect anything, so you might try changing
the vbe_palette_data() function to access the palette data this way... I
know Genecyst works beautifully now (and kudos to the DOSEmu team for
getting this far! :)
