No.  That's just intialization, to the screens defaults.

Run a dos program that changes the size, the number of rows and columns.
It that doesn't work it's a bug.
I know I have had 80x50 and simliar standard vairants on my screen.

Ah, you appreciate that misfeature.

Personally I think it gives a lot of trouble, to dos programs.
Most assume an 80x25 or very similiar screen layout.
