VDE on Dos EMU?

Can you tell me if DOS emulation on Linux 
will run an assembly language programed - in memory functioning -
Dos Word processor like VDE by Eric Meyers ?

If you have the time and know without too much research
  I would appreciate an answer to this - as it may determine
 how I set up my computer.
