To be able to give you any meaningful answers we need to know:
Which version of DOSEMU
Which version of DOS (I guess it is DOS/C)
Are there any error messages printed on STDERR
Are there any debug messages (Try using -o output )
Are there any debug messages if you turn on full debugging
(Try -D+a -o output)
