No clue.  I haven't hacked the dosemu internals at all.

I still think it might be a good idea to spend twenty minutes with
someone who knows Emacs well.  A friend of mine teaches a high-school
CS class; he said the whole class was productive with Emacs in less
than an hour.  And Emacs can do everything RHIDE is described to do,
equally conveniently, and a great deal more besides.
