Hi,
I recently downloaded dosemu 0.98.6 to install on my 2.2.5 box (recently
Slackware 3.1 distribution, but now heavily altered).
I can start dosemu, but have several problems thereafter.
1) I cannot start with graphics enabled - if console graphics are enabled,
the screen goes black and the keyboard dies - can't switch vt, have to hit
reset (ouch). If console graphics not enabled, but plainvga with port access
is, the screen gets vertical lines in different colors (looks like a test of
the emergency broadcaast system :-), keyboard locks, have to hit reset.
2) I cannot run any sort of program that requires DPMI, no matter what the
memory settings in my /etc/dosemu.conf are. The program invariably (i.e.
easily reproducible :-) crashes back to the linux prompt, when it doesn't
hang. (fortunately, in this case it doesn't take the keyboard with it - I can
switch terminals and kill the dos process)
3) I cannot run some programs that require access to (presumably) slightly
deeper portions of the system - these don't hang, just produce odd results.
(for instance, PKUNZIP 2.04g will run fine...as long as the file one is
unzipping does not span floppy disks - then, it reads the table off the final
disk, and proceeds to give me error messages saying that it can't find the
actual files in the Zip file - without asking me to switch disks back to the
first disk)
4) Don't have sound. This doesn't surprise me, though, as I can't get my
sound card to work under Linux either (grin).

weeks in my mailbox (unlike the linux-kernel digest, which appears
approximately 3 times a day - if it's not too little, it's too much :-).
