Because the error message doesn't tell what file and what line the
error is at.  If I hadn't just changed that line, and no other line, I
would have had to resort to cut-and-try binary search to find the
change that caused the error message.

The font thing, or the error-message thing?

My apologies.  I will upgrade.  (Is there a Debian package for 0.98.3
yet?  I'll go look.)
