I've installed dosemu-0.99.10-4 on my Red Hat 6.0 system. I'm running
with the stock DOSEMU configuration: i.e., no changes to either
dosemu.conf or dosemu.users. I've tried the hdimage file that came with
DOSEMU (wouldn't even boot), the current hdimage on Caldera's web site,
and the hdimage from FreeDos-0.99.10-4.
The Caldera and FreeDos images boot up just fine, and the simple tests
I've tried work OK (e.g., dir, type, etc.).
However, I can't get the floppy to work. Under both the Caldera and
FreeDos images, a command such as "dir a:\" causes the activity light on
the floppy drive to come on, I can hear the drive seek, and then ...
nothing. DOSEMU hangs, there's no additional activity on the floppy
drive, and the only way out is to kill the "xdos" or "xtermdos".
I have grep'ed for "floppy" in every text file delivered with the DOSEMU
rpm, and I didn't find anything that seemed to be relevant to this
problem. A DOS system that won't read a floppy isn't too useful.
Does anyone have any ideas what might be wrong?
Thanks.
