I found the same problem - but no solution :-(
The debug-file shows that the remote-line can process
7-bit INPUT only (output worked fine).
The only working environment is xdos (or dos -X) at remote side.
If this is not possible, the only way I found is native DOS
on the remote side (running the app remote, too).
