Hello,

Background:
-----------
I have some old programs for electrical field-calculation for DOS using
the German "Grafisches KernSystem" (GKS) as a grafic library. Sourcecode
for the program and the libraries are unavailable.
The program fits in a very efficient way the needs of student education
in electrical field calculation. -- So I like to use it furthermore.

The GKS-Library was written at the time, where PC does not have more
than 20 Bit adressable memory. The upper BITs of the adresses (Bit 20 to
Bit 23), to my knowledge, are used for calling and return parameters for
this GKS-library-functions.

Problem:
--------
Nowadays 32-Bit OS working as host for the programm inside the DOS-BOX
or emulators LINUX DOSEMU and VMWARE quits this program with a system
error message like

"OS386 needed" -- a message from the emulator. This is the similar
message with WinNT.

At the moment, the only solution is to start the program from a special
bootdisk. But all network services (File, Print) are not available at
this time. I like to install a linux-server running this field
calculation program for the student access with printing over the
network to the net printers!

My work until now:
------------------
I tried CPU switches of DOSEMU (newer and older version 0.66 and 0.99)
with no change. Debugging the code was not very sufficient to me.

What are your recommendations? what should I do?

Thanks for reading and thinking about my problems.

Michael
