I am trying to see the effects the changes in packet
sizes on interrupt processing(theoretically, higher
the packet size, lower the interrupt processing
overheads)
I got the following readprofile results(I have just
included 2 interrupt processing associated fields
here, i am not sure if there will be any others!) for
two MTUs (and corresponding PDU sizes) at the send
side(TCP connection):
MTU 13000 - Send Side
===================
94 __do_softirq 0.6963
397 handle_IRQ_event 4.41
MTU 800 - Send Side
======================
206 __do_softirq 1.5259
741 handle_IRQ_event 8.2333
I see lots of processing overhead due to
handle_IRQ_event at the send side. DOes the recieving
of acknowledgements trigger handle_IRQ_events??Or does
the sending operations also cause these triggers in
handle_IRQ_events??
Any ideas are welcome!!
Sai
