Kernel 2.1.x and 2.2 pre have a number of prerequisite software upgrades.
See the docs included with the kernel source. RH 5.0 as delivered is not
kernel 2.2 ready. RH 5.2 claims to be ready for 2.2.x kernels (I haven't
tested this myself); you might consider upgrading your distribution
instead of patching RH5.0.
