One thing about arcnet (about the only one I know): The hardware address
is set by dip switches on the board... and is only 8-bit (gotta be
unique among the physical bus). This means 40 bits have to be made up in
order to have a 48-bit MAC address. Maybe a LILO line could take care of
this.

Anyone into the gory details? Maybe there's a ARCnet-HOWTO or something.
