I sent this message a few days ago with no response. I really, really need some numbers to give management or they won't let me have the funding. I would be very grateful if a few people could spend 5 minutes to do this. Thanks, Tim ---------- Forwarded message ---------- I am trying to implement a web cache in order to better utilize our existing bandwidth and improve dialup browsing. Management is a little wary of investing $3000 or so for an appropriate server so I would like some help convincing them.. :) They would like references on ISPs using web caching and their results. If you are an ISP of between 6,000 and 15,000 customers that has implemented web caching with Squid and are willing to be used as a reference, please send me the following info off list. Name Title Company Phone E-mail Machine stats (486 24MB RAM, 1.6 GB IDE and 1.2GB IDE) Hit stats (saw a 32% hit rate on the cache engine) Bandwidth stats (noticed a 15% reduction in net bound/inbound traffic) This is assuming no prepopulation schemes (skycache, etc.) and some sort of port 80 redirection like port mapping on a cisco or something similar. Also any comments you feel would be appropriate, other than screw off.. ;) Thanks, Tim ---------------------------------------------------- Timothy M. Wolfe | Why surf when you can Sail?
