not really a net problem but you guys have been so helpful and
knowlegdeable I thought I would run this by y'all.
Since I need this to be running and have a thread listening on a socket
that will spitout com status info if I connect to it maybe it can be
justified for this list :)

I'm back to my java program hang up problem but i may be on to
something. The program in question runs fine for anywhere from 8 - 50
hours and then seems to hang. I thought it was a java problem until I
started looking around and noticed that top reports a nice number that
was at 18 and the priority at anywhere from 12 to 16 depending I guess
on what else is going on. All other priorites on the first page of top
output are at zero except for kswapd that is at priority -12 and not
changing.
The time param for the jre shows 129:23 and very slowly increments
Is the problem that I am just not getting enough cycles to continue
quickly and it just appears to hang? I have played with renice and am
now down to -20 but the priority remains
way up there but will drop as low as 0 every now and then.
How can I keep the nice / priority levels the same as when they are
started if this is the problem. I have not restarted the program so I
can play with setting things now if there is a way to dynamically alter
these settings that I have not tried.
This program will run 24 X 7 if I can keep it going.
