What Protocols are needed for Samba?

I'm trying to setup a peer to peer networking environment and want to know
what protocols (TCP/IP, NetBEUI, IPX, etc...) do I need to install on my
Windows98 system in order to share access with my Linux system?  What I want
to be able to do is read & write and later on setup IP Masquerade.
