What is the kernel version you are using? I've got few machines with
those cards and it seems that standard RH5.1 kernel has 0.99 version of
the driver which nicely identifies the card but then connection doesn't
work. You can either pick newer driver 0.99E (which works atleast for
me) or update kernel to 2.0.36-pre16 which has same driver. Driver can be
found from http://cesdis.gsfc.nasa.gov/linux/drivers/vortex.html
