Hello,
We are using Dual Pentium PCs connected on 100-BaseT switch. We had
experienced a lot of "eth0:SMP simultaneous entry of an interrupt handler"
that cause the PCs hang.
We have just tried your patch on some of our PCs. In fact there are two
kinds of PCs:
PC01=TYAN Tiger2 - 2xPII@300MHz - INTEL eepro100 (chipset 82558 not on
board -IRQ9)- 2xIDE disks - NO SCSI controller
PC02=INTEL DK440LX - 2xPII@300MHz - INTEL eepro100 (chipset 82557 on
board - IRQ9)- 2xIDE disks - SCSI controller Adaptec 7895 on board (not
used).
With PC01 we have installed RedHat 5.1 kernel 2.0.35 compiled for SMP
(Ethernet driver is eepro100.c:v1.03 8/11/98 of Donald Becker) and
we have applied the patch. The PC boots without any problem and just
with the usual messages. We also send streams of data form amd to the PC
successfully yesterday. All PCs having the same HW as this PC01 just
behave the same.
Then we have copied this kernel on PC02. At reboot, this PC has given a
full screen of messages like that one: "IRQ0: CPU1"
However the PC finally succeeds to boot and its Ethernet card works fine!
(so far we can see...)
Do you have any idea of what it is?
Let me know if you need further information...
Thanks in advance for any answer!
Catherine
