I need to route between two ip subnets. Currently I have a linux box
running routed, and this is working quite fine. What I want
to do, is to place another linux box along side so that if for whatever
reason the primary box fails to route, there is another route through
the secondary box that will automatically take over.
Questions:
Can I do this with RIP? or do I have to go to OSPF or something else?
Do I have to use gated or something else other than routed?
I want to keep this as simple as possible, its only purpose will be to
route from A to B, and will need to communicate/share it's routing info
with a Cisco router.
Subnet A: network 192.168.1.0 netmask 255.255.255.128
Subnet B: network 192.168.1.128 netmask 255.255.255.128
Subnet A: Subnet B:
_______primary router______
Cisco---/ \____hub___devices(NT
mostly, with static routes)
\____secondary router______/
Am I crazy or what?
