I'd like to tap into a ppp bonanza. The following
issues become apparent after a while:
1. Get Through:
At a peak hour, you get business signals until
hit up-arrow and return and hear the
connection sound; or see connected in the
log. How do you write a chat script which
dials ISP until it gets through?
2. Keep Alive:
I use ppp on a separate line, but ISP drops me
sometimes even when I always have some traffic
(fetchmail polling). How do you set up a daemon
process to keep the connection always on and
reconnect when dropped?
3. PPP Status:
Is there a PPP status app for X, showing
whether connected, perhaps the IP, and even
the speed (like "windows")?
