Moving applications

Hi, there.

    I have a small root partition (100 M) and it's going out of space.

    Can I move an application directory (such as /opt/kde) from another
(such as /usr) without any damage of  software funcionality? For the
above case (KDE), what changes do I have to make en .conf files (sorry
if it's off topic)?
