I have got a problem with my two 3c905B ethernet adapters in a RedHat
5.1 machine, which should work as a router.
Each card works great, if I use it alone.
If I use both cards with the same configuration, they both don`t work at
all. Both are recognized at system boot.
The driver 3c59x.c:v0.99H is compiled as a modul.
I have already updated the net-tools to version 1.46.
interface configuration:
eth0: 10.40.14.254 IRQ 10 d000-d0f
eth1: 10.40.7.254 IRQ 12 d400-d47f
("netstat -i" shows that one packet was lost because of an overrunon
eth1)
routing table:
Destination Gateway Netmask Flags Use Interface
10.40.14.0 * 255.255.255.0 U 2 eth0
10.40.7.0 * 255.255.255.0 U 0 eth1
/etc/conf.modules:
alias eth0 3c59x
I tried an additional "alias eth1 3c59x" without a result.
I also tried several options as specified in the drivers ducumentation
withput a result.
"traceroute 10.40.14.1" gives me:
warning: multiple interfaces found, using (10.40.14.1) @ eth0
1 **
"arp -a" gives nothing
"tcpdump" doesn`t show any action, while trying a "ping 10.40.14.1" or
"10.40.7.1"
at system boot, starting sendmail takes 2 minutes.
I don`t know, what to do next.
