Hi!

Due to the hope of impreovements and a possibility to get my onboard
soundcard running (under Linux) I fetched the 2.2.7 kernel from kernel.org .

But after compiling/rebooting I experienced the lack of ip aliasing (I
have multiple IP addresses on my eth0). A message at booting told me
"SIOCDELERT: no such process".

I built the 2.2.7 kernel on my RH5.1 with 2.0.34 kernel from RH and I
checked it several times that IP aliasing was turned on in the config.

Is it inappripriate to switch from RH5.1/2.034 to a RH5.1 with 2.2.7? I
mean concerning the scripts in /etc/rc.d/* ?

Any suggestions for solving the problem?

TIA !

Uwe

-----------
My configuration:

- Intel PII/350
- motherboard Intel BX440
- 64MB RAM
- 8GB IDE Hard disk, 2 GB wasted on Windoze :-(
- NE2000 ISA card on IRQ 10 / 0300
- plain RH 5.1 with 2.0.34 kernel (from RH 5.1)

BTW (off topic, sorry):
With the 2.2.7 kernel I got the info from /proc/pci that my onboard sound
card is a ES1371. Has anybody experience with it?
